Les équipes françaises développent de nouvelles fonctionnalités pour Matrix
Le soutien français envers #Matrix ne se limite pas à un simple chèque. Les équipes techniques de la #DINUM disent contribuer de façon active au développement du protocole. Elles travaillent par exemple sur l'amélioration de « #SlidingSync », un algorithme qui optimise les performances et l'expérience utilisateur. Plus fluide, plus rapide, c'est exactement ce qu'on attend d'une messagerie moderne.

Nach längerer Zeit mal wieder #Matrix als Docker Container installiert - und wow, es hat sich einiges getan! 🚀
✅ Installation: Sauber durchgelaufen
✅ .well-known: Sofort korrekt erkannt
✅ Federation: Funktioniert im ersten Anlauf
✅ Sliding Sync: Problemlos übernommen
✅ Element X: Login ohne Hickups
Wer mich also direkt und sicher erreichen möchte, kann das nun auch wieder über Matrix (s. oben) tun. 🔐
Ein bisschen dezentrale Kommunikation kann nie schaden - vor allem wenn sie endlich so reibungslos funktioniert wie sie sollte. 😌

I would probably just wait a month or so and then give it a shot. They're just releasing major improvements to both the clients and the server to improve the ease of use and user experience at the moment.
In a month or so, the improved experience (Element X with =>Synapse 0.114) will likely be more commonplace:

That said, I haven't looked at the code. This is all based on my reading of posts made by the @matrix / @element teams, so the above is just my interpretation.
It *sounds* though, like the sliding sync server can just request what's needed rather than full room history.
Would be good to get official confirmation though.
It looks like the first commits are already in to start integrating sliding sync into standard Synapse. So yes, right now, you need a second server, but if you're pretty patient (I'd guess a year or so), it'll all be rolled into standard Synapse under one database anyway.
Most of the time it's because you're subscribed to rooms that have a lot of historical data.
FYI the speed issues were the main reason for the complete redevelopment of both the client ( Element > ElementX) and the server (adding sliding sync).
You should find it vastly faster when using ElementX with a server that has sliding sync.

✅ Запилил Telegram-бота для своего чатика, который отвечает LLM-кой на вопросы, а также умеет сходить по ссылке, прочитать новость и дать по ней выжимку с ключевыми тезисами.
✅ Добавил к своему стеку для Synapse и поднял у себя сервер Sliding Sync чтобы можно было пользоваться клиентами под Matrix 2.0 (Element X, например)
✅ Забрал восьмиструнную гитару у мастера
Есть ещё немало планов, большинство из которых будет успешно проёбано, но хотя бы начало успешное.

rebuilt the #Matrix server on this domain and got #slidingsync set up. Federation still disabled, but the Element X apps are slick.
The previous set up has been sitting mostly idle for the past year after a couple months of initial use with just me and my wife, the primary Element apps were just too buggy to enjoy using over other chat options.
