For the future of the #SocialWeb I feel the notion of the "app" is not ideal. The social network should be service-oriented, and solutions then consist of one or more services, that compose / orchestrate / choreopgraph with each other, such that they cover the needs of all the various stakeholders that are involved, both on the client and the creator's side.
Obviously both #bluesky and #threads should fully federate and just warn their users that something they are about to display for the first time is from outside their service. Didn't AOL basically do this when the web started taking off? #SocialWeb

i became desperate to fix the media ecosystem by watching how support for the Iraq War was ramped up by the mainstream press, while at the same time, you could find great arguments against what they were saying online. they just had much less reach.
but then twitter happened, demonstrating how those arguments could go worldwide viral even if the mainstream didn't want to touch them. but it got bought & broken.
at least amid this war propaganda redux, there's a light on the horizon. #SocialWeb

The social media public square is a natural monopoly. Old school twitter was the first instance of it and X is still it. To change that and we absolutely should out of concern for society, we need to think clearly and address it directly.
No one should have more influence on it than anyone else. Everyone should feel welcome there. Unless #bluesky ceases dominance over AT, it's fedi with more nuanced moderation.
