I remember playing Sonic R on the PC as a kid, and how the race to unlock Metal Knuckles absolutely kicked my butt.
Playing it as an adult via Gems Collection, it still took me a few tries to gather all the medals, but on my first race I was closing in on the finish line and Metal Knuckles passed me at the very last second.
I won anyway.
I'd lapped him.

I wouldn't say it was my favourite of the Sonic racing games, but this racer for the Saturn (also released for PC), did offer up some interesting ideas, as well as some engaging courses and a great soundtrack.

#SonicR is one of my favorite #SegaSaturn games. I finally found the time to get the #PC version running.
The PC version is an enhanced Saturn port with Weather Effects and Time of Day.

I installed the game and then installed the Sonic R Updater tool found at https://gamebanana.com/tools/6325
The tool restores the Saturn colored lighting, allows for Wide Screen and tons more.
