Division of labor, elevation of effort. A compact camera captures the tension between manual and mechanized work—one worker grounded in debris, the other lifted into structure. Split-toned in monochrome to echo the cold geometry of construction and the warmth of human presence.

Black and white image of a construction site with two workers. One is elevated on a scissor lift working on a concrete pillar, the other is on the ground using a shovel next to a wheelbarrow. The scene includes industrial materials and large concrete columns. The image is split-toned for dramatic contrast.

Green code on a fossil foundation. Green Cargo locomotives in a row, toned toward olive green and industrial darkness. The branding color signals environmental awareness — but beneath the surface, diesel-powered systems rumble. A visual paradox between sustainability rhetoric and transport reality.

A row of Green Cargo locomotives parked in darkness. The image is split-toned with olive green shadow dominance and pale highlights. The branding is clear, especially the “green cargo” text which retains its green hue. The image conveys a heavy, systemic atmosphere with focus on structure, wheels, and railings.

From the certainty of a falling apple to the uncertainty of a quantum world...

A red apple sits on top of a white book against a background tinted with deep purple tones. The apple, shiny and richly coloured, stands out as the central subject, while the book beneath it carries the title Fisica e Filosofia by Werner Heisenberg. The purple background adds a surreal, contemplative mood, shifting the scene away from a neutral still life into something more dreamlike and philosophical. The focus remains sharp on the apple, while the text of the book is slightly blurred, emphasising the contrast between everyday simplicity and abstract thought.

Guess I'm having a #SplitToning phase. Also, so many distinct textures in this one structure for #TextureTuesday!

The viewing platform "Wolkenhain" against a wildly cloudy sky with a few visitors on top. The structure itself is seemingly all made up of irregular triangles, giving it a futuristic look, almost as if it was a render.

For #PhotoMonday a #Berlin picture I took last Wednesday. The rest of that roll unfortunately mostly only satisfies documentary standards rather than aesthetic ones, but still, those who know will know why that photo is significant for that day for this city 😄
Though I do like how it pretty much naturally lent itself to the classic cyan/sepia split-toning.

A signpost at a street corner with giveway sign and telling it's the famous Oranienstraße to either side. The typical early 20th century corner building in the background is blurred to a point where you can rather sense than actually see the details on the facade.

This week's motto for @norberteder@graz.social's #52WeeksPhotoChallenge is "Decay".

While the
#KaiserWilhelmMemorialChurch didn't technically decay - it was heavily damaged during WWII - I think it does depict the motto in a more metaphorical way. The remains of the main tower of the church were reinforced and preserved to serve as a reminder and cenotaph of what fascism (and war) will lead to. And unfortunately this collective memory has indeed heavily decayed particularly over the last decade.
