Neuzugang in ZDF-Mediathek: “Suits”

Die Serie mit mittlerweile 9 Staffeln ist schon gut abgehangen, seit 2011. Ich habe sie auch schon auf irgendeinem Privatsender (war es Vox? gibt es den noch?) einige Folgen lang gesehen, und bin dann irgendwann ausgestiegen. Die Selbstreferentialität jener Lackaffen in den USA, die in grenzenloser Bereicherung den Sinn ihres Lebens sehen, war ich irgendwann leid. Andere erzählerische rote Fäden konnte ich nicht entdecken. “Brutal” war allenfalls der Naturalismus und das in Hektik ausartende Tempo. Anderen könnte das gefallen.

Hier also gehts morgen in der ZDF-Mediathek los. Das ZDF wirbt mit einer 7 Staffeln lang mitspielenden gutaussehenden Lady, die es zwischenzeitlich zur britischen Prinzessin gebracht hat. Ich hoffe sehr für sie, dass sie nicht essgestört ist. Obwohl: für britische Prinzessinnen ist das ja wohl Einheirat-Voraussetzung. Sie weiss mehr darüber.

Wie üblich hält das ZDF seine Sendestrategie vor dem Publikum geheim, und verrät es nur Werbeträgermedien, wie diesem z.B..

Zur Serie selbst meine Kritik aus der Erinnerung: alle Figuren sehen übel gelackt aus, so, wie Klein-Fritzchen sich teure Anwält*inn*e*n vorstellt. Erfolgreich – im Sinne von reich – werden sie nur, wenn sie Arschlöcher sind. Ob sie dabei irgendwie doch auch Mensch bleiben, das diskutiert die Dramaturgie dieser Serie rauf und runter. Und es scheint ihr angesichts von 9 Staffeln gelungen zu sein, damit ausreichend Publikum zu binden. Mich eher nicht. Ich war irgendwann raus.

“Better Call Saul” war für mich kritischer, tiefer, fesselnder. Hat das gleiche ZDF gnadenlos versenkt. Wie schon bei den “Sopranos” eine unvergessliche Schande für deutsches Fernseh-Schaffen.

For those who don't know me well, I am a woman but prefer men's attire, particularly of the antique (usually edwardian perhaps through 1950's, but that's pushing it) variety. I also love dandyism. After years of searching, I think I finally found a lounge suit! It doesn't say so in the description, but when I fed the words into Perplexity and asked what sort of suit it was, it told me lounge. I am totally blind, so I cannot see the images. This is the sort of thing that would be worn daily to almost every informal occasion, from business meetings, to shopping, to luncheon with friends, to a walk around the park, to seeing a doctor or getting a haircut. It's the winter version, made with wool, though some are in lighter fabrics, such as linen, for the summer. This is a modern reproduction but sounds like it has no synthetic materials, unlike many that I keep seeing with ridiculous things such as polyester, zippers, etc. It can be worn with buttoned boots, but also with Oxfords or other lace-up shoes.

This, in contrast, is truly formal dayware, suitable for a wedding or some other serious occasion. As you can tell, this one is authentic. No, I won't be buying it, as I don't need such a suit right now. Oddly enough, it is very easy to find morning suits, tuxedos, etc. but not lounge suits..

Earlier this week, I began thinking. I had heard of running suits, but is there such a thing as a walking suit? It turns out that there is. These are quite informal and are normally used in the country or when out for city strolls, but not for everyday occasions like the lounge suits. Regardless, I can't find one anywhere. It was difficult enough finding this!
