Displays of #antisemitism have increased because of current events in Israel and Gaza. Let’s look at one example of it from recent days.

A lot has been said in recent days that relates to a rise in antisemitism on the Left. Let’s dig into it.

Black text on light blue box. The text says, "I apologize for the lack of a consistent rhythm to the posts in the last handful of weeks. Multiple factors are behind that, some of which are personal and some relate to the evolving changes at Twitter. I'm still committed to the work, however. Thanks."

As I shift more to Mastodon, I want to try a different approach this week. Instead of a handful of examples of antisemitism, I’m going to focus on one tweet. The message of the tweet isn’t antisemitic, but the aftermath of posting it was problematic.

CW: I don’t think anyone will be offended by anything in the following thread, but I will unpack how the word “Pharisee” has been misused by Christians.

December is in full swing, so there is a lot of inappropriate comparisons of Christian and Jewish customs. Plus more fallout from Ye's views.

Boilerplate
• This account's intent is to educate through examples of antisemitism on Twitter, primarily so that gentiles can better recognize it. Context: North American, and as a Christian clergy member my correctives will be directed to Christians.
• My hope is that all of us will become better people for our life together in a diverse society.
• This isn't a place to debate theology.
• I'm still learning about the history and breadth of antisemitism. If I err, point it out while bearing in mind that I'm trying to do a mitzvah with this account.
• The weekly threads are not a cumulative list. A self-imposed limit of five examples exists, and the standard for what makes the cut is how educational -- not egregious -- it is.
• It is easier to be consistent and conceal all identities, except if the example is by an organized group or by a prominent public figure.
