Ein ziemlich harter Thriller über Terror, Misstrauen und die Angst vor den Nachbarn – inszeniert in einer Vorstadt, wie sie für das amerikanische Kino der späten 1990er Jahre typisch ist. Mark Pellingtons Film von handelt von einem Mann, der überall Gefahren sieht – und womöglich vollkommen Recht damit hat. Ein seltener Film über die schmale Linie zwischen berechtigter Sorge, Verschwörungstheorie und selbstzerstörerischer Paranoia. Sehenswert schon allein für Jeff Bridges, Tim Robbins, Joan Cusack und Hope Davis. (ARD, Wh.)
