REPORT: For all of you who were sympathetic to my plight in this post, thank you. (I'm sorta lookin' at you @mazz.) I did a local Google search (I know, I need to use a different service that for kind of work) and found Musselman's Antiques and Old Lighting in Santa Paula, CA. Writing this, it may have been someone responding to my post who suggested this place ... I can't remember.
ANYWAY ... this place is lamp jackpot. "They" fixed up my two lamps like absolute pros.
I put "they" in quotation marks because "they" are one guy: Bob Musselman. He's why I'm writing all this and what follows.
Bob's shop is a 30' x 100' walk into lighting history. Half of the shop is his workshop. All of the shop is covered in lamps and lamp things. It's amazing!
What's more amazing is Bob. He's a one-man shop. He does all the work and repairs, though from time to time he gets some help with the computer billing system.
But amazing gets more so. Bob is 99 years old. You wouldn't guess it from looking at and talking with him, but he is. And he's a SeeBee veteran who spent time in the Pacific theater building airstrips and such. Ask him about it. He has stories.
Anyway. I just wanted to thank the tooters here who steered me in Bob's direction.
