Mastodon can stand on its own merits, and we’re far more interesting when we focus on important matters.
We can talk about various interests, such as art, photography, politics, books, and we can do so without the other place.
Mastodon isn’t perfect, but the discussion here is good - and growing! For me, this tweet changes the rationale for being here - a point where #medtwitter needs to stop wringing its hands about whether or not to stay on twitter, come here, or stay active in both places. Medical professionals on social media need to take a stand: boycott twitter altogether.
Boycotts are annoying, uncomfortable, and take work. But they only happen when people place principles ahead of what’s easy.

All that harassment women get? That makes them money. All the callouts, all the toxic verbiage, all the fights with trolls feed the beast.
Twitter keeps the toxic, high profile troll accounts around because they know you will interact with them.
*Not using Twitter* at all is the best way to fight back.
