@Paulatics Nice!
Congrats to Rich Sutton, who well deserves the Turing!
When people say "AI is awful" they might not realize that there's amazingly useful AI doing stuff like checking eggs, sorting items in production lines, predicting energy demands, and on and on - the most mundane and rote activities that require some small, simple, repetitive sensing and decision making.
But because that's silent, society-advancing tech, and not in-your-face "use AI for this?" buttons on the web, it is undervalued.
LLMs are rarely useful. But Machine Learning, and Reinforcement Learning within it, provide powerful and useful tools!
There is (mostly) hype and bull about AI. But there is new tech with LLMs and such that are actually valuable if you understand their limitations and use them where they can actually help out.
@judell has been posting some excellent and practical tutorials on some of these useful tools and techniques. His latest one is particularly good.

#UsefulAI: block people on TV.
For example: never have to hear the name of, or listen to another word from #BorisJohnson 🤷♂️
Instead of trending topics, how about trending blocks?
