Still thinking about yesterday at the art museum, the lovely shiny Archipenko torso, the giant Kehinde Wiley statue that is my favorite person on horse, and these little icons that go with different art pieces. #vmfa #rva

Samurai chest armor made of flat plates. The coiled dragon is an applied alloy of gold and copper. Another incredible item in the #samurai exhibit at #VMFA #richmondva, on loan from Ann and Gabriel Barbier-Mueller museum in Dallas, one of the largest collections in the world and the only one in U.S.

Lines of blue thick threads and rivets at the top and a beautiful coiled dragon in the middle. The tail is at the bottom, and the body and legs are formed into a circle with the head and yellow eyes close to the tail.

Side angle on a gorgeous metal helmet made in the 1600's. The bottom part hangs down to shield the neck and has many rows of rivets, making up an interesting grid pattern. The top part has added stylized metal flames that bend back subtly, as if blown by the wind.

1. My son came home from visiting a friend;
2. I finished an interesting book that I was unaware of yesterday afternoon;
3. We visited the impressionism exhibit at our free-admission beautiful local art museum

We saw a nice Toulouse-Lautrec (do the French say "a de Toulouse-Lautrec?) and talked about why he often chose to avoid drawing feet. #VMFA info for this: " The small-statured figure to the left is probably the artist himself, while the figures to his right are possibly the Cabaret dancer Valentin le Désossé (literally, "the boneless one") and Toulouse-Lautrec's cousin Gabriel Tapié de Celetran." Only one leg in the painting for guy on right, who knows in real life. #toulouselautrec

Painting in ornate frame of 2 men at bar, facing bartender. One man is short and has very little of his shoes showing. Other man is tall on a stool, with white shirt and seems to have only one leg, which is unlikely....and his foot is long with indistinct shoe and perhaps a spat.
