[caption id="attachment_14385" align="alignright" width="720"] The Teleri built Alqualondë on the northern shores of Aman in Eldamar. But was this Swan-haven considered to be a part of Valinor, too? Here is what we know.[/caption]
Q: Is Alqualondë Formally Considered To Be Part of Valinor?

Is Alqualondë formally considered to […]

The uniqueness of Galadriel hit me. Among the greatest elves in Tolkien's world was Feanor. Unlike Galadriel, he actually had the Two Trees and the Wells of Varda to capture its Living Light within the jewels. His niece had to work indirectly from a great distance to capture the (second hand) Light of the Jewel that Earendil wears into the waters of her phial. In some respects this is an echo of what Yavanna and Nienna did. In this respect I think she had the greater skill compared to her uncle.
The the light of the phial could respond as though it was alive and react. It could counter both Shelob and the Watchers. It was obscured only within the space of Mount Doom where even the maia's ( Sauron's) power contained in his ring could also be diminished.
In that regard her phial was a type of mirror contrast to Sauron.

I have another take about #TheLordOfTheRings #RingsOfPower.
In universe, #GilGalad "rewarding" #Galadriel by allowing her to return to #Valinor makes no sense. Leaving #MiddleEarth is a choice made by the person. But we live in an actual world in which rich people love to tell poor people nothing is free in life. So I find it quite logical that there's a bending of the spirit of the text to fit this shitty narrative. (I'm sorry, I would like to be able to better word this idea but I can't.)
Q: Is There a Source for the Tale of the Two Trees?
ANSWER: J.R.R. Tolkien most likely had some sort of combination of myths or legends in mind when he devised the tale of the Two Trees, although he clearly made up many details to flesh out the story of the trees that gave light to the land of the Valar. In The Silmarillion, the Valar created two lamps (Illuin and Ormal) to give light to the […]
