What a day it has been. Starting to get that ball rolling for the new channel for my business. Struggled for maybe an hour to record a video simply stating basic information and ideas 😅
But hey! I got it done!!! I'm hoping things will be a bit smoother moving forward. I'm excited for the opportunity, working on watches is something I thoroughly enjoy and it may be the first thing in my life I feel I could do until I can't work anymore. Combine that with outlets like YouTube and it can become something mildly lucrative. (I don't expect to become obscenely rich from this, but paying my bills and clearing debts would be nice)
I know in the grand scheme it's all a bit silly but it's what I like. Today was good. Today was productive. It's amazing how good it feels not just spending the entire day watching movies and shows. More of this please.

Got my hands on this watch with Jerry Lewis on the dial. Opening it up, I was quite surprised to find a Helbros movement inside! 17 jewel, I'll go ahead and go through this and service it, but then it's going to be up for sale. I'm getting a bit of a backlog of watches to work on on stream! (I still need to test to make sure my laptop can run a stream. Last time, it was a slideshow 😅)
Should I redo the lume on the hands and dial, or leave it as is?
Hoping I can find a screw that fits for the watch I'm working on... 😅
Got this watch yesterday. My intent will be fix it up and make it look the best I can. I am not a fan of plated cases. Not sure if I want to go about removing all the plating and leave it or have it plated again, or maybe I just leave the look as is? At any rate, this won't be a watch I keep. Maybe this is a process I document on YouTube? Could be a good thing for my new channel. I need ideas for a channel centered around watches/watchmaking. Maybe I answer questions? I don't know yet fully. 😅
I'm waiting for watch parts to dry, so I'm left to sit here and think a bit. It's a relaxing time, and I am grateful I can do this. Thinking about this Seiko I've been wearing a week or two straight now, and I'm wondering if I'll ever get it to keep anything netter than ten seconds. I know it's asking a lot, but it's a fun thing to tinker with. I've got a large collection of watches but, for the most part, I think I'm losing attachment. This is a good thing, as I can try selling those off if/when I can.
I'll say this, a great way to keep a watch fresh in your collection is to swap bands. It helps adjust the look, feel, and feeling it could give you.
I wonder if I'm doing the right thing, or if I'm good enough, if I even know how to do what I want. It's scary but I need to face these questions and work them out.

New toy in! This is used to lift hands off watches with less (I won't say zero) of a chance of damging the dial! Kind of overkill but I wanted to try it out, better to have it and not needed sort of thing. Should help elevate the work I can do at home though!
I think I might be the first person to take this watch apart. Now, to clean it all and lubricate!

Yeah, sure. I'm not saying the customer said this, but I do have people with this attitude frequently enough. I wish I could frame something like this to show every person that thinks their watch is in perfect shape being untouched in however many decades.
What you're seeing here is old oil that has solidified and picked up whatever microscopic bits of debris, and left unchecked this can cause damage to the jewel/pivot. Luckily modern oils last longer and are synthetic so they help keep things in check longer (but still not indefinitely!)

I've been working on this special #Seiko and it's up and running great, I even jeweled the barrel arbor to make it extra special. Now, I'm wearing it to get real-world testing to see how well/accurately it runs!
