@ustralien Obviously, #widthdrawals in the form of #subscription are the main leverage here and many if not all sites operate on 4 pillars to keep revenue incoming.
- It's easier to subscribe than unsubscribe. It takes more clicks or they try to prevent people aggressively from cancelling by not allowing cancellations as easy as subscriptions.
- Platforms don't just accept "No!" and instead push for either 'returning customer spechal offers' or "pausing" a subscription at most.
- Most platforms incentivize people into "forgetting" that they still pay for a service they don't use. Compared to Services that are pay-as-ypu-go / pay-per-use they won't send #Spam to incentivize people to "retry" their service or buy something again.
- Add to that all the emotional manipulation and guilt tripping they can get away with legally.
Making "onboarding easy - offboarding painful, frustrating and hard" is something sites literally pay for!
