Historic snowfall in #Appalachia. Last week, we had over 8 inches on the ground and it felt like a winter postcard. It was a very dry and powdery snow that was great for skiing and walking. ❄️

The house is tucked in under a thick white blanket, trees glistening with snow, and everything is quiet in that rare, #Appalachian way that only big storms bring. This one will definitely go in the memory books as I sit on the front porch with the Yorkies enjoying the quiet #solitude that Mother Nature brought.

A single-story white house sits quietly under a heavy blanket of fresh snow. The roof is thickly coated, with rounded piles of snow along the edges. In front of the house is a wide yard completely covered in smooth, untouched white snow, stretching all the way to the street.

A large evergreen tree stands to the right of the house, its branches dusted with clumps of snow. Leafless deciduous trees frame the left side, their thin dark branches outlined in white. The sky is pale gray and overcast, giving the whole scene a soft, muted light.

Attached to the front of the house is a screened porch with white framing. Two flags hang near the porch — one red and one American flag — both drooping slightly in the cold air. A small stone statue sits near the porch, partially buried in snow, and low shrubs poke through the white ground covering.

A black mailbox.
