This path among beech trees creates an unexpected frame for art. Those exposed roots are a sculpture you can walk on — the roots of a fallen beech tree, cast in bronze and reintegrated into the path through the wood.

A dirt path curves slightly as it leads through a beech wood. The path is mottled with patches of sunlight and criss-crossed with exposed roots, some of which, if you look closely, have a subtle metallic patina.

Visited the #Yorkshire #Sculpture Park for the first time today. Fantastic parklands with some world class sculptures on display.

We spent the best part of 6 hours there and probably (almost certainly) didn't see everything.

The #YSP is definitely worth a trip and at only £9.50 per adult is excellent value.

Not easy to capture in a single image! A structure of untreated wood. Vertical slats suggest prison, institution, segregation. Concentric circles create a path and a space in interaction, and contain. Arched pieces over the circular path evoke church. Silver birch trees grow in the circle and between the walls. The eye is drawn upwards.

When I stood leaning with a doorpost at one shoulder and a tree trunk at the other, one was still and the other swaying. Integration is not unity.

The level foreground is grass in shadow. The backdrop is dense woodland. The horizontal middle of the image is in sunlight and shows bright green grass and a structure of vertical wooden slats groups close together so that there is only lighter and darker brown to be seen. Nothing shows through from behind. The are wooden shallow arches over parts of the structure, and young silver birch trees emerge above it.

@exo2_901 I have promised myself not to drive up that stretch of motorway without visiting #YSP - so much better than a service station!

And for #FensterFreitag I give you James Turrell's Deer Shelter skyscape at #YSP #Yorkshire #Sculpture Park.

Built in 2006 it is now showing its age a bit, but still gives pause for thought.

There was quite a wind outside. The clouds moving swiftly across the square space in the ceiling. The bright spring sunshine casting a patch of bright light on one wall.

Four white-painted surfaces. We are in a cuboid room, looking up at the walls and the ceiling in which there is a rectangular hole, chamfered to a sharp edge so it has no depth. Through this hole you can see blue sky and and white clouds. On the wall below it, and facing us, there is a brightly lit patch. This sunlit patch, and the blue patch of sky provide a bright contrast to the white walls which, alongside these two, appear in shades of grey.

A rather abstract photo of a rather abstract sculpture. The original piece resembles a giant polished aluminium kidney bean on legs. In this photo, the camera was placed on the ground pointing up, and shows half of the 'bean' against a blue cloudless sky. The piece is adumbrated by distorted reflections of the surrounding landscape.
