Day out today at Abernethy, little village near Perth, one time political centre for my Pictish ancestors. The round tower is only one of two in this Irish style in Scotland and no one knows what it’s for but it’s believed to be 12th Century. Malcolm Canmore (who took the throne from the historical Macbeth) met William the Conqueror here in about 1070.
