A planning application has been submitted for a 9km active travel route between #Aviemore and #Carrbridge, designed for #walking, #cycling, and #wheeling. The route will provide a safer, more direct connection and integrate with existing local routes. Following public feedback, the plans include a signalised crossing of the A95 at #Granish. #Scottish Government Cabinet Secretary Fiona Hyslop highlighted the commitment to promoting active travel in #Scotland, emphasising the collaboration with Cairngorms National Park Authority, The #Highland Council, and Sustrans. The route will offer safer, accessible travel for all ages and enable circular trips between Aviemore, Carrbridge, and Boat of Garten using the Speyside Way.

Carr Bridge to Aviemore with Moray yesterday. A mix of forest roads and bike trails, and some moorland. Including a short section on a black bike route 😮

We started off following the route of General Wade's military road, then found a track that wasn't on the map which took us over the higher ground, before dropping into the woods above High Burnside.

@withaveeay Shout out for stopping in #Carrbridge instead of Aviemore for tea and a wee! Loos in the car park are basic but always clean, and the cake in the cafe is awesome (have no comment on the coffee, don't drink it). #rothiemurchus also well worth the small deviation if it's not too busy.
