I’ve been asked to be an uke for a friend, as part of his #aikido dan graduation next week. That role I take very seriously and as a great honour. My job, as part of his team, is to make sure he puts on a superb performance.

In case you think that means being nice, and falling at the slightest hint of technique, you would be wrong. While we ukes are not being stupid and just fighting, our job is to attack vigorously and with attitude. Giving him the chance to show he can manage every challenge.

I recently desided to head for my Yondan grading in a year or two. And my plan is to write an #aikido #haiku every day or at least every few days. Here my number one and two.

Next Sunday we will have a special visitor. Adina Angeleschu-Hakala, 4th dan #Taekwondo will be at our club sharing her insights from that art, and then we will see if we can find connections to #Aikido.

1) Got to see 3 current and past professional mentors for different reasons in the past 2 days.
2) Lucky enough to have gotten 3 formal mentors in my career so far! A couple my company hired at different times, another volunteered. (Volunteer to mentor someone if you can! Sign up to be mentored if it’s offered!)
3) #Aikido class was pretty full. And the sensei posted the next kyu & dan test candidate list, so it’s likely to stay full for a while!

People are always comparing themselves to one another in #martialArts. I’ve come to the conclusion there are two martial artists:

Those who continue. And those who don’t.

That’s it.

Ja tenim preparats els horaris d’activitats esportives d’aquest mes:

Aeròbic Combat, Boxa, Muay Thai, Pole Dance, HIIT (Hit d'Alta Intensitat), Cal·listènia, Arts Circenses, Acrobàcies, Acroioga i, aquest mes, augmentem les disciplines amb classes guiades de Grappling, Tai-Txi i Aikido.

Entrena, comparteix i creix en un espai popular i autogestionat per a la gent combativa i la classe obrera.
