1月153人の乗客を乗せ、ケンダリからジャカルタへと飛行中のインドネシアのバティックエア機が、予定のルートを外れた事故は、機長、副操縦士の二人ともが居眠りをしたためと判明した。レポートとによると、機長が休憩中、悪天候を避けるため、管制からルートの変更を求めれた後、元のルートへの復帰の指示を受けた時には、副機長も居眠りを。目覚めた機長がルートは外れれいることに気づき、修正。ねていた副操縦士を起こし、ジャカルタ空港に安全に着陸したという。副操縦士は最近引っ越ししたばかりのうえ、生後1カ月の新生児がおり、睡眠が十分でなかった可能性を認めている。

About 90 minutes after the plane took off, the captain asked for permission from his second-in-command to rest for a while, with the request being granted.

The co-pilot then took over command of the aircraft, but also inadvertently fell asleep, the report said.
