#bioDigester

(2/x) Large #dairy operations managed to turn costly #manure into money—with biodigesters: Bacteria break down manure & generate #methane, biodigesters trap it to produce #biogas. Public money & assistance are used to support & develop #biodigester infrastructure: vox.com/future-perfect/392881/

As the contract/company troubles continue with our sort of current propane tank company, the concept of making & using gas from a #biodigester comes back as a more realistic long-term solution to this larger need issue, namely for cooking fuel. One important part being (& it's not at least superficially highly shown in research) is that the result of a biodigester is a product that when bought otherwise is called "natural gas" & that it's mostly methane. Beyond a basic biodigester I'd be pretty certainly adding some filtration to it & likely insulation. The first to decrease odors & increase appliance parts life with it. The second to insure it was kept warm enough to function through the winter months.
#SelfSufficiency #Gas #Homesteading

*One of the biggest 3 problems with the current contract attempting to be forced on us being that we don't use anywhere near as much as the "minimum", our household's overall low rate of use being a big part of why a pretty small biodigester should work decently for our needs.

This factory-made #biodigester by sistema.bio/ has been used for 3 years in periurban #Kenya, replacing polluting #charcoal and costly LPG with #cleancooking while producing fertilizer to organic farm. The feeding tank keeps solids out, less need to empty/purge the digester.
Satisfied customers are good marketing.
