FREE!ship is a free open-source 2D and 3D CAD software for shipbuilding (boat design and analyzing) created by Martijn van Engeland, Naval Architect from Netherlands, in 2005, but after 2006 it was converted into commercial proprietary software DELFTship.
In 2007 Associate Prof. Victor Timoshenko of the Department of Construction and Mechanics of the National Univerisity of Shipbuilding (Mykolaiv, Ukraine) created a fork — FREE!ship Plus, and till December 4, 2015 extended it with a lot of new features and a set of freeware plugins named as HydroNShip.
Since February 2015 Mark A. Malakanov, Software Architect at ESRI Canada, forked and ported FREE!ship Plus to Linux using Lazarus & FreePascal.FREE!ship is a free open-source 2D and 3D CAD software for shipbuilding (boat design and analyzing) created by Martijn van Engeland, Naval Architect from Netherlands, in 2005, but after 2006 it was converted into commercial proprietary software DELFTship.

A drawing I made many years ago, she's called Heron. A plywood sailing barge about 26' x 10'. Draft is perhaps 18" with the leeboards up. Athwartships double berth in the bow and two single berth/settees in the cabin. Big boats with crawling headroom are not that popular.....#woodenboat #boatdesign

It's an old picture but stability is still an issue, ignorance and overloading are the biggest problems. #boatdesign #stability
