@FreeCAD Is it FreeCAD Friday already? 👍

I have an unused corner I wanted to do something useful with, so I decided to install a clothes hanging rail. I had two wall mount flanges leftover from something else, so I just bought a wooden stick that fits. Because they’re ugly I decided to create a piece to cover them up.

I had one test print that was too small and which I created completely different (solid shape and then hollowing it out). This one is the one I ended up using.

I first created a maximum outer dimensions part resembling the flanges, and then modeled the cover around it. I was going for a simple cone shape with a straight line from the wall to the wood.

Overall, it worked out exactly as I expected. Leaving out the print time (one hour and 25 minutes on my Ender-5 Pro for one cover) this project was done in 30 minutes, including me amateurish installing everything in that corner.

… now I just need more coat hangers 🙃

In the end, I made this model using . Of course, it's not recommended to do everything in , but I wanted to learn. That said, when it comes to creating and other complex surfaces, it's the perfect companion for .

@FreeCAD Inspired by a design from Patrick Blom (@pbl0m / printables.com/model/1461731-b), I'm working on a DIY twitterbox. This is WIP!

The back is going to be #3dprinted (maybe in two parts with the backplate made out of transparent PETG - I'm not sure yet). The front is going to be made out of wood (multiplex birch). I'm planning to try out the new #CNC router in my local #hackerspace / #makerspace for this.

I've dedicated this #FreeCADFriday to my first tool holder for my newly installed euro peg board. I wasn' t satisfied with what was already available. I could already use the current version but I'd like to improve it some more. Of course, I'm going to share the final model.

@FreeCAD I've printed the design today. It worked flawlessly without support. Yes, the detailed contact area of the tilt support might be over-engineered for a FDM printer with a 0.4 mm nozzle. But isn't there a saying? You can never be overdressed or over-engineered (or something like that). However, it fits great. I'm going to add a rubber strip between the printed part and the light but otherwise, that's it (apart from publishing the model -> 2do list 😬 )

On todays #FreeCADFriday , I've worked on projects from last time (chaos.social/@M4x/113647399133).

The hook was tested but I've to adjust the dimensions a bit. The bracket which can (hopefully) pushed on top of the mesh basket of a kids bicycle got #3dprinted today (photo is going to follow).
