From the depths of the Internet:

"In January 2023, Bright Data was sued by Meta Platforms for harvesting and selling data scraped from Facebook and Instagram. Meta previously hired Bright Data to scrape data from other websites."

@dgouttegattat - I believe you found evidence of a #GenerativeAI #crawler leveraging #residentialproxy infrastructure, like the one offered through #brightdata or competitors.

It even advertises itself for #AI crawling use cases: brightdata.com/

You can build some pretty insane applications using just #LLMs, even if you don't really know what you're doing. But what separates a good AI app from a great AI app is one thing, and that's data.

Court rules in favor of a web scraper, Bright Data, which Meta had used and then sued

Meta claimed Bright Data’s data harvesting was a violation of its terms of service — which Bright Data agreed to by having accounts on Meta’s platforms. However, a court ruled in favor of Bright Data on Meta’s claim, saying Meta had not presented evidence the firm scraped anything but public data

Does anyone know/have an opinion on #brightdata's SDK.
I am considering if I should blocklist them in the MWB, but without any way to investigate their SDK and mixed information, I was curious if anyone knew more.
Thanks
