#bujoart

At the beginning of March, I was gifted a basket full of yarn skeins. I crochet as well as draw, so this is perfect. I wanted to commemorate the moment with a little sketch of yarn. I love how the sketch turned out! It's one of my favorites from this month.

I didn't draw it true to any skein of yarn in the basket given me. In fact, I don't think there was any green yarn in the basket. But this drawing was fun because I took something real and reimagined it in a very small way. This style is very me... it's where I'm most confident. It makes me happy because I can also see notes of how far my art has come as I've practiced & also as I've been reading more about art.

A journal entry on dot grid paper, reading: "Meal plan for next week
Drew working Thurs, Fri and Sun. Finish wraps (have again) Pizza Omelettes?"

Just below all of this is a colored pencil sketch of an unraveling skein of Kelly green yarn with a yellowed wrapper. On the wrapper, in red lettering is the word "Yarn" in cursive handwriting. The string is drawn in loops across the page for decoration.

Another sketch, this time of my dog Jessie Girl.

A collage of a sketch and the photo it was sketched from. The sketch is on the left-had side and has the words "Jessie Girl" written to the right of it in purple ink. On the right-hand side, the photo is of a cream, white, and black colored dog. It is faced away from the camera, sitting down in what appears to be a field. In the distance, there are trees and blue sky. The dog's ears are the floppy sort and the right one is comically flipped back over her head while the left is folded neatly forward as it should be.

Scroll for sketch. This image is actually from a couple weeks back. I'm behind in sharing some of my work.

Lately, I've been practicing drawing from photos I've taken. Drawing my pets is sometimes difficult -- it definitely shows me where I need to do more work. Like here. Definitely need to pay more attention to light and shadow and how they work on cloth items. Also, I was too chicken to even attempt the stripes of her brindling. Pepper is so cute sleeping like that. The pillow is my spouse's & he's her favorite person.

Process of my picnic illustration. It's now available on Redbubble products and as a device wallpaper for my Ko-Fi members. Art is my sole source of personal income -- your support means so very much. Links are in my bio & below.

This is one of my favorite summer-time journal art pieces. It's gloriously "sketchy" as opposed to being overly perfected. It's one of my favorites because it reminds me that it's okay for things not to look perfect. Can you make an estimated guesstimate at what is in the image? Then it's fine. Edits unnecessary.

Ironically, I once shared this on Instagram with a poll asking if followers thought it nice enough to publish as a set of stickers. A single individual responded to the poll option "needs more work" 😆

It's like 5 years later. I'm using Clip Studio Paint to prep it to go into my Redbubble shop soon. I'm also thinking it might be a fun printable coloring sheet. No perfections. Only squiggles.

I keep neglecting my bullet journal so i spent some time to make something nice for the month ahead
#bulletjournal #bujoart

Bullet journal cover for August. A topographic map design in a box with the month 'August' and the year '2023' underneath.Monthly bullet journal spread. Left page has the days of the month in a column, to the left is a narrow box following the topographic design from the cover page. The right page is similar but the page is split in half between Tasks and Goals, each section has its own mini topographical design box.
