Community members mobilized in #Carbondale, IL, rallying and then marching on the local police station, where police helped facilitate an event for the far-Right group Turning Point USA, known for its cross over with white nationalists and helping to organize attendees for the attempted pro-Trump coup in DC on January 6th.
The anti-trans event was originally scheduled to be held at Southern Illinois University, but was cancelled after counter-protests were called.
Protesters reportedly rallied outside the police station for over an hour, chanting and banging on windows.

Today I hiked the Cedar Lake trail near #Carbondale. What a poorly maintained trail. I did see a bobcat, which isn't something I prefer to see on the trail. Luckily it wasn't feeling like enjoying a good mauling. I found about a hundred pinhead sized ticks exploring my legs afterward. My hiking partner did not enjoy. This airbnb gives me the creeps.
