# Genital Autonomy Collective Summer GoFundMe Update: Portland Pride & InterConnect 2025

Sorry for the delay in this update, I’ve been taking a break after months of summer events.

Y’all may have seen that our board member, Perry, posted about Google trends of related search terms spiking along with our events. It’s been extremely motivating seeing objective measures of interest in the topic of genital autonomy. Our boots on the ground public outreach is clearly reaching people, and I’m extremely proud of everyone helping to make that happen! Y’alls time volunteering and generous donations have been extremely helpful.

## Portland Pride GALDEF Booth
Between **GALDEF**; The **Genital Autonomy Legal Defense & Education Fund**, **Intact Global**, and **Genital Autonomy Collective**, we had 9 volunteers helping out! It was even a bit cramped at times between the morning and evening shifts behind just one table. I had a great time meeting folks from Intact Global, and GALDEF in person again! There were many many good dogs, and I definitely did not bribe any with treats. We gave away all of the literature we printed out on Hadachek v. Oregon. The most popular was our zine: *Hadachek v. Oregon: Information about the lawsuit for LGBTQ+ People* written by T.T. Perry. This is available on our public drive folder for anyone that would like to print it. We had a small flier on foreskin restoration devices which was very popular and shows the need for accessible literature on foreskin restoration, which we’re currently working on.

I also talked to many other orgs running tables to possibly collaborate. Including:
* A local apparel company to make higher quality GAC logo shirts for future events
* Someone at OPB, Oregon Public Broadcasting, excited to bring Hadachek v. Oregon to their higher-ups
* A queer focused non-denominational church supportive of genital autonomy as an in-person location for support groups
* And, many others without concrete plans

### Hadachek v. Oregon Updates
We helped Intact Global easily collect **over 200 emails**. Ask anyone who’s collected emails before, and they’ll tell you it feels like pulling teeth. However, Oregonians show up to fight for human rights, and wanted to know how and when to support **Hadachek v. Oregon**. We ask that people come to the **Pioneer Square Courthouse** in Portland to show support on the day of the hearing. Bike Ride for Intersectional Genital Autonomy/w Genital Autonomy Collective for July went great! I met some lovely activists from San Francisco including their poster child for marriage equality there!

Played Yahtzee beforehand, it doesn't just need to be a bike ride, but to have fun and connect with community. I talked to a young man who was interested in foreskin restoration, I strongly suspect that he will look into it further.

We're going to be doing another one on the first Monday of August at 11 am again!

Genital Autonomy Collective just tabled with our new banner from Elmer's Flag and Banner, Kites Too! which turned out great! Rad Pride was Rad! Almost everyone who spoke to us there thanked us for bringing genital autonomy to pride!

We handed out basically all of the literature we printed, and queer Oregonians are excited about Hadachek v. Oregon fighting to protect all children from forced genital cutting! Our Hadachek v. Oregon and the queer community zine was the most popular.

Did our first tabling event yesterday with the genital autonomy collective! People there were very receptive to genital autonomy even if they've never talked about it before. We even had someone come up and tell us they're a foreskin restorer!

I gave a talk, my ex was in the audience so was a little activated but still managed. I'll upload the talk on YouTube later tonight

We're doing public outreach **tabling at events this Pride season** for the first time solo as an organization!

Your donation will help us create outreach materials like zines/buttons/stickers/etc, cover hosting costs of our free support groups, allow us to continue working on research, and advocating for intersectional genital autonomy for all.

This year we're raising awareness about a timely topic: **Hadachek v. Oregon**, a lawsuit challenging the female genital cutting ban to expand it to **protect all children** including **protecting intersex children, and boys from circumcision**.

We will share how it will benefit trans, intersex, gender diverse peoples and other marginalized groups specifically. TIGD people are uniquely receptive to supporting intersectional genital autonomy when given the chance.

Circumcision harms more than just boys, and Oregon is ready to stand for bodily autonomy for all people!

The first Bike Summer Ride for Intersectional Genital Autonomy w/Genital Autonomy Collective this year went great! Met some lovely folks who want to help out with the cause and it was a comfortable ride! I'd like to have some apparel for the future ones to really make them a visual resistance effort! Like a bike flag from a local store that I'm in talks of getting made.

I also hope to get an event calendar up on the GAC website for these events to be compiled.

The leftovers from the Intact Global Press Conference were donated to a local free store. Glad I was able to help prevent them from going to waste, and that a hot coffee or tea might warm someone's day.

I plan to continue to use the resources The Genital Autonomy Collective might have such as a table and chairs for tabling to help in mutual aid efforts rather than having them sit in the garage when we're not tabling.

At a local café and the staff were talking in support about Hadachek v. Oregon and Intact Global's challenge to expand protection from child genital cutting to all children including preventing circumcision of boys and intersex surgeries.

People are talking in support of genital autonomy this is not a fringe issue, less than 1 in 10 children are genitally cut in Oregon, and Oregonians are happy to fight for the rights of all children!

I shared more info with them such as our search for a plaintiff who has experienced intersex related genital cutting in Oregon.

Exerpt from my speech:
"I’ve been speaking up against child genital cutting for almost a decade with limited success until I moved here. Portland, Oregon really became my home because we also talk to neighbors here, and we know them. We know that they’re exceptionally diverse, and I believe we’re proud to fight for human rights because we know that. [Pause]
Many people assume that I was not affected by childhood genital cutting, but childhood genital cutting, including circumcision, affects more than just boys and men."

I’d also like to remind people that while we rarely cut girls in the United States today, there are still women subjected to coerced female genital cutting such as culturally inspired labia reductions, and the infamous husband stitch. As well as the many elders still alive who experienced a very different history of our country. I’d like to extend support within the Genital Autonomy Collective to women who have nowhere to go for support because it’s thought of as a “won battle”. [Pause] [End Addition]
