For two years in a row, the global average has exceeded the 1.5Β°C level say is crucial to surviving . That we are still not acting to save ourselves and our world tells you we are not a good steward species.

FEDI SCHOLARS

am looking for reco's on feudalism's environmental impact.

what am wondering: the "Fall of Rome" basically unleashes a period or re/colonization in Europe with massive amounts of migration, de/re/urbanization across the land that is being consolidated under fiefdoms & kingdoms.

this must have had a major climate & health impact like the 1315 Great Famine & the plague

videos & text preferred: documentaries, books etc

The is a unique region where have studied the effects of warming and for decades. With the global crisis becoming more evident, a new study is linking the Amazon to climate change around the rest of the world.

The disappearance of had been predicted since I've been a kid. had claimed that the would move north in a warming world. We're starting to see it happen in real-time.

On a side note, life in means I don't get to see snow that much. It's definitely a different winter experience that what is usually depicted in books, movies, and TV.

We saw 68Β°F this morning locally. Better late than never. Aspiring #Climatologists need to know what it means if #GlobalWarming gets big enough to wash out the angle of the Sun (seasonal change), meaning - is that kind of scaling still some unknown magnitude larger than current observations ? Are we good enough to discern that boundary or is that determination still a bridge too far ? Still looking for a graduate thesis...or might some smartass AP student beat you to it ?

Whitley Strieber and Art Bell wrote The Coming Global Superstorm. The Day After Tomorrow was based on this book. I am online friends with Whitley, have been on UnknownCountry.com and discuss this topic with him, ad nauseum. I asked why they did not include The Ring Of Fire in the tabulations, concerning the book. He said, at the time, it wasn't being considered.

Look up Charles Hapgood. When I brought that up to Whitley, he said that Charles Hapgood's theory of crust displacement can go both ways: Crust displacement can happen with too much ice OR too much water. Warm/nearly fresh water is already venting into the Pacific basin. #climatologists, please chime in. We are in, what I call, a rebound effect. I think the only thing that will right the world will be crust displacement. That will be catastrophic if it happens as fast as I think it will.

#Climatologists tell us that much of western #NorthAmerica is in the throes of a 1,000 year #drought. #Farmers in the #Midwest are facing deepening drought conditions putting wheat harvests at risk. #Kansas #PublicRadio reports that wheat harvests there may be the lowest in over 60 years! I've seen like this once before in #LakeTahoe in 2021. But as an easterner it's easy to rationalize that: "it's the west, the west is subject to forest fires." Long Island is not the west.

View down a hazy, smoke filled filled five lane roadway. On the left side, a woman walks away from the camera on the sidewalk, her arm raised like she is waving to someone in the distance, although no one is apparently there. The tree line, several hundred meters away, is somewhat obscured by the smokey atmospheric conditions.

A team of #researchers, including #climatologists and an #astronomer, has utilized an enhanced #computermodel to recreate the #iceagecycles that occurred between 1.6 and 1.2 million years ago. The findings indicate that the #glacialperiods were primarily influenced by #astronomicalforces in quite a different way than it works in the present day.

"Climategate" is the most common term that the media and blogosphere gave to a relatively effective #manufactroversy (in the US, at least) that followed the November 2009 release of thousands of illegally-obtained e-mails from the Climatic Research Unit (CRU) at the University of East Anglia, Norwich, UK. Global-warming denialists immediately pounced on the story, claiming that much of the data supporting the existence of global warming were fabricated. The media quoted many of the e-mailsout of context to make it seem as if there was huge disagreement among #climatologists and that they'd faked or hidden their data.

By 2011, nine separate investigations by the British government and by multiple independent ethics committees had been completed. None found any evidence of fraud or manipulation of data. The CRU data was also independently replicated.

Major paper released on sidelines of the COP27 #climate summit in Egypt has started a countdown. At current rate of #globalemissions #ParisAgreement goal of limiting global temperatures to 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels will likely be permanently out of reach in 9 years, study found. The paper, published on Nov 11 and written by dozens of leading #climatologists assesses what scientists call #carbonbudget essd.copernicus.org/articles/1
