Progress shot of the asparagus patch. It’s as bare as it is due to budgetary concerns. Or else I’d have this jam-packed with herbs and veg and leafy greens. The weather has been unseasonably cold and I planted a month late, so the strawberries aren’t anywhere near where I had imagined them to be- taking over the plot. Oh well. Maybe in a few months. I wonder if anyone local would let me use their rooting hormone on the runners.
•Italian pole beans that kindly reseeded themselves from last year’s 3 Sisters Patch
•Black&Pink beans that I sowed at the trellis
•There are 5 additional varieteis of bean planted: one variety at each pair of bamboo poles.
I still need to weave some places betwixt them for the wee beans to grab, but that’s for another day.

Look who grew overnight! And she’s two ft tall! Her leggy next-door-neighbor showed up yesterday at around 9 inches. #purplePassionAsparagus #purpleAsparagus #CulinaryGarden #kitchenGarden #asparagus #food #personalChef #farmToFork #farmToTable #growingAsparagus

A two foot tall asparagus stalk that has already started to go to fern. There is a subtle fade from green to purple at the bottom few inches. There are some bright orange stakes in the ground and yard debri like dried up leaves and pine needlesSimilar background as the previous picture with an 8 inch asparagus stalk that has a mauve glaze to it at certain points it is also more purple toward the base like the fern

I keep looking at the garden pictures like they’re baby pictures. It’s been like this all spring and summer. This is one of the #PurpleAsparagus plants yesterday afternoon, and then this morning. #TamludTeamAssemble : what’s the brucha for growing #asparagus ? #kitchenGarden #FarmToFork #PersonalChef #FarmToTable #culinaryGarden #JewApron #zone6 #food #foodcrop

Purple asparagus about two inches long, growing out of the soil almost parallel with the earth. The green stem shows through the layers of ruddy-purple leaves overlapping to form the top of the spear.A legibly asparagus stalk, less than half the width of a drinking straw, stands proudly upright at over 10” next to an orange stake

#talmudTeamAssemble : As an agrarian people, surely we must have some prayers for sowing & growing, no? I called in a favor to get some free #purpleAsparaguscrowns and a few “medium” #saffroncorms to plant, and now I’m anxious for their well-being. #culinaryGarden #kitchenGarden I also think that I need to figure out a way to buy a half cubic meter of soil without any fertilizers. I want these #asparagusCrowns to have to work for their sustenance this first year, so that they can establish a strong foundation. That is, if they take. 🧿

A white envelope of inch-wide crocus bulbs inside of it along with instructions of how to plant. The envelope is sitting on a patch of soil where they’ll be planted. There is a River birch leaf at 7:00 and my left hand is pulling the lip of the envelope open from 3:30 to 5:15-ish.

Today was shallot harvest day for me. Some of these are huge this year! I got about 5 gallons worth. They’re now on drying racks to cure. #gardening #culinarygarden #gardentotable #food
