Just curious, are there any admins of a Darkice live stream to Icecast? Where are your favorite sites for tips on how to better use both.
I have a good setup for my local network, but want to document it for myself and maybe HPR.
@Radio_Regentrude @digitalcourage Stimmt. Zu diesem Anwendungsfall haben wir bisher leider keinen Erfahrungsbericht. Wenn ich mich richtig erinnere hatte @phil die Internet DJ Console auch mal als Alternative für @mixxx und #Darkice erwägt.
Außerdem gibt es immer wieder spannende neue Projekte. So wird bei der #Sonoj der DJ und Performance Mixer #EQUIS von @obsoleszenz vorgestellt. Vielleicht hat @radiofreefedi auch noch ein paar Tipps zum Thema #FreieSoftware für das #Webradio?

Things I'm learning whilst doing #DroneDay -
1) Place a compressor / limiter in using `calfjackhost` into your chain and connect everything coming out of your mixer into it and then this compressor / limiter to #Darkice, otherwise your stream is going to be weak / much too soft.
2) Check your mixing constantly if you have more than two (stereo) inputs destined for darkice. Have the mixer on screen in front of you at all times. I use the #XR18.

"Smarts", in my experience, is also a widely relative term.
I'm using #icecast and #darkice. It was very simple to set up. Well, not taking into account my #alsa / #JackAudio configuration, which wasn't simple to set up, actually.
As an aside, what sort of #Bose headphones do you have? I have a the crazy expensive sound cancelling ear-bud types that I use, though I prefer my #Bayerdynamic over the ears for mixing / serious listening at my computer.

Been testing the audio #streaming from #Mixxx for tomorrow and it looks ogg Vorbis encoding is somewhat buggy. Don't have time to debug, but the solution is simple: take it outside of Mixxx - #DarkIce, a jack-aware command-line audio streaming client for #IceCast written almost 20 years ago. Rock solid!
Looks like simultaneous recording of Mixxx's master-out to #FLAC works ok.
