My takeaways from the bincode situation:

* Assume good intentions (while verifying), never dox (duh).
* Normalize having a non-empty .mailmap in repostiories so that name changes can be done less intrusively without calling attention.
* When doing a full-tree rebase, provide a simple text along with it that gives a filter-branch-or-so command that converts an old history into a bit-identical new one (where the old name/data can sit in a nonspecific regexp).

From 2013 - 2015 I was a contributing writer for Libre Graphics magazine. I believe it was the first print magazine to focus exclusively on graphic design using open source tools. What I really liked about it was that it focused on the wider conceptual, cultural, and political issues surrounding open source design, asking more "why open source" and not just "how do I use the software". In fact in its five year history I don't think I saw one tutorial except for one on how to draw a unicorn!

I contributed four articles during the second edition of the magazine. Writing has never been my strongest skill but I really enjoyed the challenge at such an early point in my career. This is issue 2.2, Gendering F/LOSS. Go read it!

Da ich ein Genießer bin, stehe ich auf so Leckereien, die vom #Grill bzw. #BBQ kommen. Dazu darf es auch gerne einen guten Wein oder Whiskey geben. 🥩🌽🍷

Ich nutze gerne #Linux und interessiere mich für #FOSS / #FLOSS sprich #FreieSoftware, #Opensource. Generell bin ich der Meinung, dass wir uns von den Zwängen der großen Softwaregiganten befreien sollten. Somit ist mir auch die #Datensouveränität wichtig. Deswegen auch #UnplugTrump.

Ein weiteres Thema, das mich begeistert, ist #Selfhosting. So habe ich ein kleines #Homelab daheim, mit dem ich gerne diverse Dinge teste. 🖥️

Ansonsten stehe ich auch auf #Fußball, #Mountainbiken und #Wandern. Und überhaupt #Natur, in der ich mich gerne aufhalte und gut den Kopf freibekomme. Ach ja, und auf so süße, kleine Fellwesen fahre ich auch total ab. 🏔🚵🐿😽️‍

Wer also neugierig ist und mehr wissen möchte, kann mich gerne anquatschen. Ich beiße nicht. Gaaaaaanz bestimmt nicht. 😋

I think this will be interesting to you if you saw that firefox is adding AI features into firefox and threatened to remove manifest v2 in order to bring in more revenue (something that chrome removed which disabled a lot of ad blockers) [1]

Librewolf also exists and I've heard from several people its a very good replacement for firefox but it still relies on mozilla existing to maintain the costly web engine

edit: looks like the head dev of ladybird touts white replacement and had a tantrum about someone replacing the word "he" with gender neutral pronouns somewhere in the project [2]

pick your poison maybe we should just simplify web standards to perhaps make them easy to maintain again, maybe we should revert to a much older version of html, maybe Gemini (the protocol not the large lying machine) is the answer [3] lets make website crafting fun again

Okay, who's got plans for when Mozilla finally folds? They are barrelling towards a brick wall and have not taken their foot off the gas.

I'm typing this on Waterfox, but I worry that the Firefox forks will wither away once Mozilla's gone.
