Hmm, schade, bei @organicmaps scheint‘s gerade – gelinde gesagt – etwas zu rumpeln. Wer diese nutzungs- und datenschutzfreundliche, lokale Maps- und Navigations-App kennt und bisher schätzte, sollte vielleicht schon mal @CoMaps folgen.
Dort ist auch der offene Brief zu finden, in dem die Community die Probleme zusammengefasst hat. Vielleicht entsteht dort auch ein #Fork.

So I've been using a #Linux machine for a little over two months now, making church bulletins with @libreoffice and live-stream thumbnails with @GIMP (and refining my parish's logos into vector graphics using @inkscape ). Not only am I loving all these new tools, I'm reminded that there are people in the world who like to make things for others (like #FLOSS ) and are not necessarily trying to become uber wealthy. It puts a major ding in the capitalist mentality!

@ptribble I'm happy to report that I managed to boot a Tribblix m20 ISO from the USB using #Ventoy. Rufus, Balena, even good old Unetbootin did not manage. I'm happy since I do not have to burn CD-R's nor play with iPXE (tho I was prepared for it).
Unfortunately format and fdisk were to cryptic for me (also do SATA SSD's have cylinders?) so partitioning I did separately from eventual installation.

I’ve noticed that when I enable the “Force Composition Pipeline” option in NVIDIA settings on my RTX 2070 running on X11, my system freezes shortly after starting any game which uses DXVK. This seems to be related to NVIDIA driver version 535 and newer.

The problem happens because DXVK 2.3 started using the VK_KHR_present_wait extension, which doesn’t work well with the composition pipeline enabled on these drivers. The freeze happens consistently and makes the desktop unresponsive within a couple of seconds after launching any game using DXVK.

I found a discussion about this issue on NVIDIA’s developer forums where it’s confirmed and reproducible.

They still haven't fixed this. It's been years since 2023, yet NVIDIA's drivers still treat X11 like a beta test. Who needs open source love when you can just... not fix reproducible crashes?
