There are a few books which gave an idea how an alternative economy could run on a #non-authorian basis.
This one shows how #memes works and how society is build up by a few #algorithms. It is a story of the streetsamurai, hacker and pizza deliverer Hiro Protagonist who, against his will, is drawn into the struggle of a conspiracy of an evangelical billionaire to gain the rule over the world by ancient sumerian memes and the original first language of mankind.
Beside the memes and algorithms there are also the post-apocalyptic fractions. In the story, the goverment is just a little leftover, often called "Fedland" . America is in ruins and the only structures that offers civilisation are franchises or #distributedrepublics like "the Mafia", "Narcolumbia" or "Mr. Lee's greater Hong Kong" for example. A concept Stephenson works out in his novel #DiamondAge
Both, the idea of an #algorithmicsociety and the #distributedrepublic are remarkable concepts.
