IMO there are three things that have thus far saved Stokes and England from disaster:
1. India imploded from their high water mark of 430-3 after being putt in.
2. Apart from Bumrah who was as brilliant as ever the Indian seamers bowled a load of tripe.
3. India's fielding was poor - they missed a fistful of chances.

Stumps on day three. India are 90-2 in their second innings, 96 ahead overall. India are probably favourites from here, but England are by no means out of it.

Sudarsan gives it away having got to 30. A casual shot against Stokes results in a catch to Crawley (his status as a test opener is questionable, but he does have a safe pair of hands in the field). India 82-2, 88 ahead overall. England need at least one more wicket this evening, but this puts a brake on India's progress.

Fairly even still as we move through the third evening. India at 27-1 in their second innings have a lead of 33. I still feel that Stokes got it wrong when he won the toss on Friday - it seems fairly clear that that day was the best one on which to bat, but England have fought back well since 12:30 yesterday, when India were 430-3 and 600 looked likely.

Bumrah bowls Tongue for his fifth wicket of the innings to make it 465 all out. India lead by six on first innings, which effectively makes this now a one innings contest. Bumrah 24-4-5-83-5, and now on 210 career wickets at 19.33 a piece. He is alone in having over 200 test wickets at under 20, and in the 150+ club only Syd Barnes who played his last match in 1914, with 189 at 16.43 each beats him.
