@ottona #Meshtastic is special because it forms a social network using distributed hardware & open source software, completely independent of any commercial infrastructure. It is valuable as a proof of concept: you can contact people without your internet provider, cellular network nor cloud services. Just radio. It shows the way for resilient infrastructure & fun in tech. Nobel Prize type significant. Why they harass & alienate people posting on their #githubdiscussions site is a mystery.

#meshtastic #githubdiscussions blocked me from their discussions site following this exchange https://github.com/orgs/meshtastic/discussions/55 about something innocuous. I had written to the 3 email addresses listed to complain, & GitHub, that moderator was harassing me. They ignored me. Then I wanted to delete the content of all my posts but that was not possible, so I edited them to read "moderator harassing me". Whereupon all my posts were deleted and I was also blocked. You can make up your own mind.

I think that many private people (not businesses) are keen to hear expert answers to simple, almost "FAQ" type questions and would consider asking meshtastic.com : but the above response means we need not bother them if we are not a business I guess.

We both know that isn't what is being said. You are very aware there's multiple avenues available for "FAQ type questions", you are just not a fan of several of them and mad the Discourse was shuttered. That's fine, but don't try and intentionally misrepresent the conversation. The perception from the original post was potentially seeking more specialized or guaranteed support beyond what’s typically offered for free, and that’s why potential paid options were mentioned. If that's not what you're looking for, there's absolutely nothing wrong with that, by all means make use of the available avenues (of which you've made known you don't care for most).

The moderator here was reprehensibly offensive and aggressive and closed the discussion preventing corrections. An abuse is ever I saw one.

The simple search for answers lead to an ad hominem attack on me for no reason who only sought to derive a source of information.

Needless to say I am not going to participate in view of this, but felt it important and fair to tell you so you realise what it looks like from outside and what it feels like to unfaily harassed and branded in this manner.

I can see why in practice there are advantages for the people fielding questions: easier embedding into GitHub of issues and less strain on the fabulous folks who keep the project running. BUT ... it feels sub-optimal in principle because it is not a FOSS site but a commercial host (Microsoft). Are there any other solutions?
