I decided what the hell, and ordered one of these #harmonicas. It's got more notes than any other harp I've ever seen, the case is preposterously crappy (like, don't-get-it-wet level of crappy), and I seriously doubt it's going to be remotely in tune, but... Under $12‽ Including shipping‽ Ridiculous! I might glue piezoelectric pickups on it and run it through some cheap effects pedals or something.

I thought I mentioned the #Pianaccord in my #AccordionRevolution history of the #accordion 📚 but I guess not?

I may have only learned about them when I was researching electronic Accordions for a talk after I published

Here’s a few of the hits from that including ones from #farfisa (started as an accordion company) and #Hohner (who made millions of #harmonicas 😬 accordions and #keyboards like the #clavinet)

But I really want a #Multimonica!

Flat electronic keyboard with accordion buttons on both left and right hand side. So the right hand side is like a French chromatic five row accordioned with all white buttons. And the left-hand side is 120 base Stradella system.

This is a Transicord 1960s all solid state electronic reedless organ accordion made by the Farfisa company that made the Farfisa organs. He basically has exactly the same electronics as a 1960s Farfisa organ in it. The right hand side is an extra unusual Finnish chromatic five-row C system.

An advertisement for the Hohner Multimonica. It looks like a 1950s kind of art deco, glossy black accordion turned on its side with a piano keyboard flat on the table. And the second keyboard above that. The lower keyboard is a fan powered reed organ. With knobs above it like an accordion. The keyboard above it is a very early commercial analog synthesizer. These were sold in the 1950s.

it’s a Frango candy tin, part of the cruft my sweetie’s mom has pack ratted away.
inside it’s a parfait: one layer of 1/2” foam rubber; one of 8 #harmonicas; one cut from an old, but serviceable, hand towel.
with all that stuff in it, the friction fit lid wanted to pop off. so I hit my “stuff I’ll have a use for later” drawer and got the velcro strap you see there.
everything’s so snug you can shake the box around and the harps don’t rattle.
I’m kinda proud of it.

Assumption Blindness
at last night’s Open Mike I’m talking with a friend re: #harmonicas. I sez I wanted a D #harmonica in my selection to up my chances to sit in with other #musicians there.
on my way home I recalled culling the blown out harps from my selection & put them in a bag. I have lots of fancy gift bags to store stuff in. I searched. no joy. I gave up & laid down to sleep.
I took a glance at my asst music shelf & on top was a large, white Crown Royal bag. can you guess what was in it?
