Today in Labor History June 15, 1990: Los Angeles cops attacked 500 janitors who were peacefully demonstrating in the Battle of Century City. The event generated public outrage that resulted in recognition of the workers’ union and spurred the creation of an annual June 15 Justice for Janitors Day. Ken Loach’s film, “Bread and Roses,” (staring Adrien Brody), is about the Justice For Janitors struggle. He took the name from the slogan of the IWW Lawrence textile strike in 1912.

BTW the "gooseguard" is a control system for one of the nursing homes, #seniors leave the taps open in the WC sink (and sometimes the #janitors too), if this overflows the drain tank it doesn't work correctly, so there is a flow alarm with a warning output and relays that trigger a burglar alarm dialler and warns the maintenance staff.
