Jarboe Tours Europe Ahead Of New Album “Sightings”
Photo courtesy of JarboeInfluential avant-garde artist and former Swans member Jarboe is embarking on a UK and European tour in May 2026, featuring a unique collaboration with multi-instrumentalist Thor Harris (ex-Swans) and vocalist Joy Von Spain. Jarboe’s immersive live set will draw from her deep catalog of industrial, experimental, and atmospheric works, debuting two ambient pieces from her forthcoming album, “Sightings.” The performance promises a powerful union of ritual, sound, and raw emotion from the experimental underground.

Swans próbowałem zawsze wrzucić do jednego worka gatunkowego. No ale niestety nie da się tego tak zrobić dla jakiejś mojej wygody umysłowej 😁 Prawda jest taka ,że jedyne co łączy ich dyskografię to eksperyment. Przez kolejne albumy przewijały się u nich motywy noise rocka, industrialu, post-punku, gotyku, neofolku,drone,post-rocka i wiele innych. Skoro zacząłem cykl poświęcony noise rockowi to skupię się na tej erze łabędziej gromadki 🙂
Swans kojarzą się w świadomosci ludzi z dwoma bardzo charakterystycznymi postaciami - Michaelem Girą i Jarboe. Ta druga persona dołączyła dopiero przy trzecim albumie Greed i żartobliwie pisząc - nauczyła ich melodii 😁. Podobnie jak kilku innych artystów parających się Noisem wywodzą się z Nowojorskiego ruchu No Wave.
Ich dźwięk w tej pierwszej erze był agresywnym kakofonicznym rytmicznym pulsowaniem. Wszystko to okraszone nihilistycznymi, mrocznymi i egzystencjonalnymi tekstami Giry. Magazyn Spin bardzo fajnie ich wtedy podsumował - "niezrównana umiejętność przełożenia absurdalnej przemocy ludzkiej kondycji na muzykę równie odurzającą, co intensywną".
Osobiście najbardziej lubię utwory z ich dużo późniejszych emanacji ale na potrzeby cyklu Noise polecam jeden z utworów ze słynnego debiutu "Filth".

The cover, the band name In Solitude, the album title "Sister"...I was expecting Gothic Metal and I'm kinda allergic to that...The HORROR!
BUT! this is a really great Heavy Metal album with more than enough twists to keep it adventurous. Fantastic guitar work & great down to earth vocals also with #Jarboe as a guest in "Horses In The Ground" with a spoken word part. Another cool discovery from the 1001 Other Albums list...
