Magazine is, and will forever be, THE SHIT.
One of the great rock bands of all time.
I’ve always preferred this b-side version of The Light Pours Out Of Me, which differs from the Real Life version in that it’s a separate recording done by Martin Hannett, as opposed to the one John Leckie did for the album.
A lovely gift to receive.

Before I start ripping through all the records I got as gifts this Christmas (which were a lot of #postpunk #punk and #newwave stuff), I have to listen to Pink Flag.
I posted Chairs Missing yesterday, and for me, I can’t listen to either of the first two Wire records without doing the other. They’re BOTH so badass and timeless, and I’ve heard both SO many times, they kind of play like one really long record in my head.
When we need to stretch out our live sets, “Ex Lion Tamer” is still a go-to.
Such a killer album.

Slowly returning to our regularly scheduled noise; breaking away from the Christmas music until next year, and getting back to my regular diet of Ape-ness.
The first two Wire albums are recordings that I can play over and over and not get sick of.
I know there are people all over the world who love and adore Wire, but somehow, I feel they are still drastically underrated. They’re the type of band that I wish every next generation of kid could find; in the SAME way they find The Smiths, Talking Heads, Joy Division, or whoever.
I always thought them to be THAT special.
Chairs Missing is astonishing. There’s an embarrassment of riches here, as there is not one average song to be found.
“Outdoor Miner” is a note-perfect gem that’s not even 2 minutes long, and “Mercy” is a lumbering beast, and might be my favorite Wire song altogether.
