If there are #JavaFX developers here, what will be your recommendation to start a new project for an middle/experienced ex Swing developer ?
Moreover, what will be your recommended architecture, MVC, MVP, … ?

#binjr has a new home on the Fediverse!

The social account for binjr on the Fediverse is now hosted on its own dedicated and independently run instance: https://social.binjr.eu.
(Shout out to the great folks at @gotosocial for making this so easy with their incredibly lightweight ActivityPub server. Go check it out!)

If you were already following the old @binjr account: no worries! There’s nothing for you to do: your subscription should have automatically carried over to the new account.

Of course, our brand new lil' instance is quite expectedly off to some rather modest beginnings—it is not open for registration to new users (that is not the point) but it would help "prime the federation pump" if folks from all parts of the Fediverse interacted with it, just once.
So please consider boosting this, if you feel so inclined!

Cheers!

@sormuras @mreinhold The Java Module System costed my so many hours of my life. I am only doing it, because jpackage requires it (and we kind of liked the idea).

When going into less-maintained #JavaFX areas, it is really hard to work with modules. Things like add opens "javafx.controls/com.sun.javafx.scene.control" to "org.jabref" or ""javafx.base/javafx.collections" to "org.jabref" or normal. That reminds me to investigate why "javafx.collections" are not available "normally"

My 20th JavaFX In Action interview is now available. I talked with @dlemmermann about the many libraries and applications he has created. And of course, we also looked at JFX Central, the home of everything related to JavaFX, one of his many creations.

So, a couple of weeks ago I published about my first opensource #JavaFX mobile application.

Since it's becoming to look like a nice serious project, I want to publish this in an app-store. Maybe on #fdroid Are there other free ones?

The project I'm gonna publish in an app-store is the IceConverter, see github.com/michiel-jfx/iceconv

To publish on F-Droid, you'll need to do this on #GitLab though, so my first try to put it on GitHub was somewhat premature ; )

I'll let you know what my progress is

Ever wondered whether your bibliography is conistent? Ever wanted to create a focused BibTeX file based on your LaTeX aux file? These features were available in JabRef's GUI. Now, they are available on command line:

jbang jabkit@jabref

Requirements: jbang via `brew install jbangdev/tap/jbang` or [other ways](jbang.dev/download/).

(Powered by JavaFX's observable lists 😅)

#bibtex #texlatex #jabref #java #jbang #javafx

Output of jbang jabkit@jabref --help
