A few more from this week's Summer Mountain Leader Training course for @GrahamUney . We continued to be blessed by the weather gods all week. #learnleadinspire #mountainleader

A man prepares to use a "South African" method of abseiling down a steep section of rock, which allows the user to descend the rope without a harness or descender. This is one of the "personal abseil" techniques in the ML syllabus suitable for a leader to use for themselves in an emergency after safeguarding their client down a steep rocky section.A man in yellow stands on a spur above Green up Gill. Eagle crag frames the view on the left. The sky is blue with fluffy white clouds. The hills are tinged with the colours of autumn.Three men huddle together reading maps in torchlight.Three people scrambling up a steep broken slope of grass and rocks.

Last year we had a bumper year for candidates doing their Hill and Moorland Leader training and/or assessment with us, and this year got off to a flying start too! There are more courses open for booking at the moment, and once Faye Rutter has been authorised by Mountain Training to Course Direct for us we'll be adding even more!

Waiting at Claonaig for my ferry home after an action packed week working for #AbacusMountainGuides on a Summer Mountain Leader Training. Here are a few from our expedition "minibreak" out west on some fantastic rocky wee peaks below the snowline. Bonus- we saw a WHITE TAILED EAGLE!

I'm working on a Summer Mountain Leader assessment this week for Abacus Mountain Guides up in Fort William. Today was the first day of what will be a jam packed course. After meeting the candidates this morning we had a bit of a navigation shakedown and headed out onto the moor with orienteering maps. We saw loads of cool stuff including brilliant lichens and hoof fungus.

Smiles all round this week. I've been working for #AdventureExpertise on their ML courses. Langdale is a pretty inspiring place to work, and I'm buzzing to be part of the process of seeing seven folk pass their Summer Mountain Leader assessment. Back home now feeling both rejuvenated, and a teeny bit tired! 😁

So many people say they have wondered about becoming a Mountain Leader, but don't know where to start, or what to expect.

If that sounds like you, we've put together a day in the fells, especially for you.

Congratulations to Ed and Richard, newly qualified Summer Mountain Leaders! πŸ‘This week's #GUMountains assessment has seen some mixed weather- perfect conditions... perfect for them to demonstrate their leadership and technical skills, drawn from hard won experience in the hills. It's always a privilege to be part of someone's #MountainTraining journey. Good luck to them both in their future endeavors. πŸ˜€ #LearnLeadInspire @GrahamUney

Beautiful film from Berghaus and Coldhouse about outdoor instructor and mountaineer Morag Skelton. How do we make our courses more accessible? What additional skills are we lacking (in my case, many!) Also, wow she's amazing! 🀩

Back in my Lake District office with @GrahamUney and what a cracking day to start a Summer Mountain Leader assessment with 4 keen candidates! Let's hope the weather stays like this for the rest of the week (chances of that = nil 😜).

A fabulous winter skills day out with my repeat client, Richard. Richard has set himself the challenge of climbing 70 Wainwrights in his 70th year. Today was Bowscale Fell (28) and Bannerdale Crags (29). A top effort from Richard for his first ever day in crampons!
