Y'all, I had to go back to Fedora Workstation... so that meant that I now have to use GNOME.

I used to love GNOME, but the thing of "please do not theme my app" and the devs efforts to go to great lengths to make any kind of theming unusable, drove me away from it.

Now yes, there are accent colors in GNOME now, but that is poorly implemented... only applying to like five apps, and the icons obv don't follow the accent color as well. Another thing is that the shell's light variant STILL isn't here (still behind a darn dconf config)

What can I possibly do to get around this? Vinceliuice's WhiteSur theme simply does not work properly, so IDK if I should try another theme/style.

So uh, update!

I've noticed that some of my apps (like Tauon Music Box, and Pika Backup) just simply aren't available in Ubuntu's Feb or Snap repos.
Luckily that was fixed by simply installing flatpak, then installing Pika and Tauon.,

I now have a severe theming issue on Flatpak apps. No matter what I do, I can't get GTK4/LibAdwaita apps to use my system's style...
What I tried so far was:

  • Copying /usr/share/icons to `~/.icons
  • Copying /usr/share/themes to ~/.themes
  • Giving all Flatpaks access to the ~/.icons, and ~/.themes dirs (though note that the GTK conf dirs are empty.)
  • Setting the GTK_THEME variable for all Flatpaks to the chosen theme. Gets there 80% of the way, as in it works, but it's broken.

What can I do to fix this?
