Our 60 high-technology buoy anchors are ready to go into Lake #Memphremagog.
We spared no expense!
One week from now, our town will be hosting more than two thousand swimmers and triathletes. Last year, I was the #volunteer coordinator, lake boss and the unofficial XO. That was way too much. This year, the cat-herding duties were delegated to someone else.
Good thing too, last yearâs flooding essentially destroyed most of our buoy anchoring sites. I had to develop a new anchoring strategy that can resist changes in lake levels and redesign some our swimming routes because of changes in the shipping lanes. Swimmers and big boats donât mix.
Lake preparation officially began yesterday. Step one was to get our small boats next the lake and move about sixty buoys and cinder blocks from storage to the deployment area.
TodayâŠnothing. Too many thunderstorms. Installation will begin on Sunday.
Last year we planted trees in what was a blighted post-industrial eyesore. Returned almost a year later. Half of the park is finished, half is still under construction but most of the trees have survived. đ€
