How do things like cultural appropriation jive with this? I know you've posted in the past about the appropriateness of cooking recipes from another culture, which I found strange because the power imbalance was the opposite than I would have expected.

It seems more useful to talk about raw power imbalances. Yes, acknowledge there are patterns in who is powerful and who lacks agency, but focusing on the imbalance and the abuses, which go from powerful to powerless.

@euklidiadas @tiflonet @quetzatl @Pinpinela añado sobre lo de correr... obviamente, #NotAll, pero ni en pandemia quedó claro que cuando se corre hay que tener un mínimo de educación, así sea en sitios donde esté permitido: separación con peatones, si se va en grupo, ponerse en fila o se deja de correr para evitar avasallar, ceder el paso, etc. Ya no hablamos de que los carriles bici no son pistas de atletismo. Yo a veces salgo a correr por el río, y no me cuesta nada respetar. Si no puedes cambiar el ritmo o meterte por el prado o el barro para respetar a la gente, o no sabes ir en grupo correctamente, primero, malamente lo de salir a correr, y segundo, ahí está el monte.
Y volviendo al tema, no me extraña que con tanta gente corriendo mal donde se puede correr no haya problemas donde, en principio, no se debería correr.

Es ist übrigens genau die gleiche #notAll Diskussion wie beim Klimaschutz. Die Gen sind dafür verantwortlich, es ändert für uns Jüngere genau null, wenn drei Leute dabei nicht mitgemacht haben, so funktioniert unser System nicht.

EDIT actually prefer to transfer money by direct credit online than to put yet one more bloody visa number “out there”, so the visa requirement is even more ridiculous from a security viewpoint

there is a lot of guff on the app about how much vic riads cares about my privacy, and how secure the app is.
and some other stuff about digital driver’s licences
and a whole lot of stuff about QR codes 🙄

i only know enough about IT to know not to trust links of any description, or QR codes

why do i resent vic roads pushing me to use a phone app to pay my rego? because they want me to accept their assurances about my data privacy, and accept terms and conditions that are a bit too “our bad so sad” for my liking.

our phone numbers are fast becoming our identity card, as well as essential to security in banking etc.
i once had a(n expensive) windows phone die on me for no discernible reason, while i was miles from home, and it took me six weeks to resolve issues while retaining control of my own phone number. luckily (i had the cash to buy an apple phone to try and work my way thru the nightmare.)

(this is why i keep a little paper book of codes instead of relying on any kind of software to keep passcodes safe — cos the foolproof back up system failed)
