For the most part, I think you’re correct. However, in a #NotAll sort of way, I was raised by my gma, who experienced the Great Depression. She taught me stewardship, sacrifice etc, which I’ve passed on to my children. I know there are others like me. But yes, in general: Americans have become coddled and soft.

I've been angry for a long time. Over things done and things not done, over lies and omissions, over laziness and greed. Over predators and the cowards who excuse them.

Anger, Steven Barnes told me when I was still in my twenties, is merely a response to fear. I hadn't heard that before, and it made perfect sense to me. #notall, sure, some monsters indulge in anger because they enjoy the adrenaline rush, but for the overwhelming majority of people, anger is fear, masked.

I suspect most people can distinguish between Elon Musk, Nazi, and people with real autism.

You're going to have a hard time on this page if you greet every attack on the Nazis with a claim of punching down. I intend to attack poor people, rich people, white people, POC, straight people, gay people, Jewish people, Christian people, atheist people ... if they're Nazis.

It's a particular subset of reply-guying, I think: pointless pedantic hole-poking about inconsquential subjects. The way you described a street scene; their personal exception to something you experienced & summed up in a character-limited toot; etc. And of course the #NotAll objections, familiar from the Other Place :-)

Probably the most unbelievable thing in the book is the idea that someone like Thorby would be permitted to interfere with the generation of profit. But in Heinlein's time rich people were still sending their sons off to war, they hadn't wholly become parasites yet.

The media is *owned* by Trump allies. It broadcasts and publishes material to help the oligarchs.

The fastest way to shut down an ally is to figuratively punch them in the face when they extend a hand or make an overture to express solidarity. Correcting them is 100% appropriate and welcomed (for most), but not as an immediate return volley. Relationships require nurturing/expressing vulnerability. Squelching a burgeoning attempt at friendliness or an attempt to empathize before such an understanding is established can generate enmity instead.
