Something new I've been thinking about for a while...A foray into video, combining old advertisements with maps and old family movies. Emphasizing the delusions of nostalgia, drawing parallels to greenwashing.

Using vintage gas station road maps as a base, the Petrofuture maps
show coastlines as they will be when the ice caps melt.*
With the future superimposed on the past, these maps flip the narrative
of nostalgia and subvert the propaganda of oil corporations, depicting the
ultimate consequences of car culture and the burning of fossil fuels.

Well, I finally did it--I now have the new folded map for sale online.

Up until now, the only place to get one was at my recent exhibits at the Georgetown Steam Plant. If you missed those, now you can get one of your own!

In Vancouver for a cartography conference. Here’s one of the things I can see from my room—a floating Chevron station.

Included—the Vancouver Petrofuture map, where all sorts of other things float…or sink.
