The Universal #Postal Union (UPU) is preparing member countries for the #US suspension of the duty-free de minimis exemption from 29 August 2025, requiring upfront customs duty collection by carriers. Exceptions apply to documents and genuine gifts under $100. The change demands major operational adjustments globally. Twenty-five countries have already suspended outbound mail to the US, citing uncertainty. The UPU is liaising with US authorities to clarify requirements and assist postal operators. It is also working on sustainable, network-wide solutions, including an accelerated, scalable delivered duty paid system to support continued international e-commerce flows.
