Prompt 12 - a book about a road trip -May 24, 2025- This book is beautifully written. It's the type of story that grips you from the first page and stays with you long after you close the cover. A pirate, the best friend anyone could ever ask for, a missing girl, and a road trip across the country searching for her. Humanity at its best and worst woven into one of the best narratives I've ever read.

Spotlight : THE LIFE CYCLE OF THE COMMON OCTOPUS by Emma Knight, a slow moving debut & a disappointing read. Sorry, @jennabhager!

Halfway through Nana Kwame Adjei Brenyah's Chain-Gang All-Stars, which is brutal in its depictions of violence, but also a trenchant criticism of the carceral state and the dehumanizing effects of consumer capitalism.

I'm shocked that this was a #ReadWithJenna pick (May 2023). Either Jenna Bush Hager had no idea what this novel entailed when she signed off, or she goes WAY harder than I knew.
