Really delighted with the #retrocomouting #refurb in progress by fellow #Dubliner @rethrowcomputing https://archive.is/opLCB on my first computer, an #Atari800. The machine was running well, but my choice to have it refubed was a sensible one. That #capacitor was getting well out of spec! "...the 470uF one in the picture measuring over 570! (A ticking time bomb)"

I'm curious to read that #permacomputing frowns on #retrocomouting as nostalgia-based[1]. I think much of the interest in the latter is driven by revisiting excellent ideas that have been neglected[2]. Software design is heavily fashion-driven.
