I asked my #Chinese spouse why it's ok to put the #RiceCooker on the table & not the #Wok? I don't think I'm allowed to say anything until Halloween.

I’m impressed - our Hitachi rice cooker had been unplugged from the wall for weeks, but had kept time perfectly. #RiceCooker

Lidl, in the UK, now have those little rice cookers again! Yay!
They are excellent for small amounts of rice, servings for one or two people, and at only 200W could be run from a small 12 to 240v inverter in the car. I will be trying this at some point.
I have been using one every day for making a rice breakfast for months, and I love it.
I just bought two more, as back up, in case the first ever fails or gets damaged.
Another "you thought you knew, but didn't" video. It is up there with the #riceCooker video that made me a fan of @techconnectify.bsky.social (an account to subscribe to if you haven't already).

Aight, poll time. (I'm expecting more than ZERO votes in the next three days, Mastodon.)
When #cooking your own #rice in a #ricecooker, do you:
Onko sinulla riisinkeitin? Tiesitkö, että sillä voi tehdä myös kakkuja? Ainekset vain sekaisin ja keitin päälle 🤩 Matchateejauhekakun olen tehnyt yleensä tällä helpolla SoraNewsin ohjeella. Maidon tilalla voi käyttää kauramaitoa ja kananmunat jättää pois, tosin silloin kakusta tulee matalampi. Ohjeessa puhutaan pannukakusta, mutta kuvailisin omia tekeleitäni ennemmin kakuiksi.

Tonight's dinner is some marked down marinated pork shoulder from Aldi, brown rice in the rice cooker and some steamed veg.
Putting the #RiceCooker to use again
Leftover rice from last night’s chicken stir fry and some pork loin from the day before
Add a can of black beans and a can of chopped tomatoes plus spices
Brings the mixture to a nice simmer and breakfast is ready!
Trying a rice cooker experiment
Chopped up an apple and am running a cycle with one cup of water, just the amount I need for 1/2 cup oats
Once the apples get soft I’ll add the oats and start another cycle
Got some honey too!
Edit: worked great!
Picked up some marked down pork mince at Woolies before. So I think it's time to try this in the rice cooker

Sounds yummy.
@dhedgehog A #RiceCooker that I used for over 40 years died a year or so ago & I just went back to the #OldWays & cook my rice now on the #StoveTop like my mother taught me how to do over 60 years ago.
I use the #KnuckleMethod to measure the water.
I use a 4qt pot. Add 3 cups of long grain rice. Pour water in/out til it just touches my knuckles & put it on the stove top.
Just takes 25 mins on low heat & it's all done. Never burnt. Never over or under cooked. 🤷♂️
Don't need a "stinking" rice cooker. Besides I've got too many #KitchenAppliances already. LOL! 😉
That was damned good!
Tonight's dinner is thinly sliced beef that's been marinating in soy/oyster sauce with some garlic and brown sugar, with onions and corn and carrot, all shoved in my beloved rice cooker. The magical machine that makes me dinner.
The first #ricecooker experience was excellent.
No brown or burned #rice and consistency was just how I like it.
Holding the rice warm for almost an hour also caused no burning or dryness.
So far very happy with the purchase.
The thing is also near silent while cooking compared to a microwave or stovetop and produces way less steam.
