This is a large scalemail pauldron. It hangs off one shoulder while wrapping under the opposite arm for support. It is composed of anodized aluminum scales, starting with uncolored scales with black trim at the top, then changing to fully black scales partway down. The scales are attached to a strip of chainmail which holds the piece to the body. #chainmail #chainmaille #scalemail #armor #maker #crafts #aluminum #pauldron #shoulder

This is a chainmail piece I call a triangle scale top. A clasp around the top connects to chain triangles which expand to form the neckline. Once the expansion is complete, the chainmail connects to scalemail contractions which complete the top. The scales are two toned, with primarily silver and black trim. The two halves are connected in the middle of the chest, as well as by a chain which runs around the back. Decorative chains hang low between the two halves. This piece has two clasps, one around the neck and the other at the back. The clasp chains are intentionally made too long in order to allow for adjustments when putting on the top. The excess chain also performs a decorative function. The piece is made of bright aluminum rings with anodized aluminum scales. #chainmail #chainmaille #scalemail #armor #crafts #maker #aluminum

The part of the tab that was connected to the can sticks out in the back and kinda makes the second row (and future hypothetical rows) of tabs stick out more at the bottom... Just more obvious scale mail :blobcat:

The corner of a denim jacket, on the bottom edge next to the buttons. Right above the waistband, there's a row of cat food can tabs sewn into the denim. They're in a pattern of 2 silver-colored can tabs, 1 gold-colored can tab. I've also started the next row, with the first gold tab on top of two silver tabs from the first row. In the first row, the part of the tabs where all human puts our finger to open the can will be covered by the other side of the tabs in the second row.
Future rows of can tabs are sketched out on the jacket in sharpie above the current rows. Each row is a big rectangle with the word "tab" in it.
