Globally, if you take the Production Budget into account (and not the Com Budget), #Mufasa is cashing in about 127M$ and #Sonic3 109. But that's a big Drop from #TheLionKing 3D one one side, and a continuous Up from #Sonic and #Sonic2. 😗🎶

So #Sonic2 was about $300m short of earning $1b at the #boxoffice. Sonic movies thus far have not been Billion-Dollar-Franchises. BUT It looks like Sonic 3 is storming out of the gate harder than any before. It would legitimately be hilarious to see #Sonic become a legit "Billion dollar franchise" after all this talk about the #Pokemon Movie and "billion dollar this and that."

🧵 Can you beat #Sonic2 without pressing Down ⬇️? It turns out, yes! :raves:​

I removed the keybinding for Down in my Megadrive emulator and fired up the game. Aside from immediately trying to spin dash at the start of Emerald Hill Zone, the zone was unsurprisingly not at all tricky. I even found a secret nook in Act 2 that I'd not discovered before!

In Chemical Plant I actually stayed dry because the game likes it when you just run sometimes. The ramps were way less fun though, and made some routes impossible.

Aquatic Ruin was painful because spin dashing negates a lot of the water slowdown. The grounders that burst out of the walls had to be anticipated too, because you certainly can't spin to react to them!

First death came from Casino Night Zone; I was crushed by a blue block that I couldn't spin dash out from underneath in time. Silly! I also got Three Robotniks in the slot machine, boo! The boss was the first one that really wrecked my usual boss strategy, but wasn't overly tricky.

Hill Top posed the first potentially game-ending problem: the loops in which you are supposed to spin around. However, you can jump on the floor blocks as usual once you've gone around the loop, though at one part in Act 2 I did have to jump while I was in motion on the loop to get that to work.
